On February 25, 2018 newspaper ZEIT released an interview with economist Nick Srnicek who argues that platforms such as Amazone, Google and Facebook have a natural tendency to create monopolies providing them with strong market power.

As a solution Srnicek suggests to put them under more governmental control. The interview conducted by Tobias Haberkorn unfolds the debate around currently dominating platforms and highlights the platform inherent logic of network effects and the importance of date ownership. In platforms2share Clara Wolff will investigate these problematic aspects of data ownership and monopolies within the platform economy. In her dissertation project, she will develope an impact model looking at the social and economic effects of such monopolitic platfoms.
