Matthias Fischer is head of the research department “Life Cycle Engineering” at the Fraunhofer IBP, one of the institute’s six departments. As head of department, Matthias Fischer manages an interdisciplinary team of 25 researchers and coordinates national and international research projects. For instance, the team analyzes ecological impacts of different energy and mobility concepts using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methods. Apart from that, he is Auditor for buildings at the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e.V.) and member of the „DGNB Expert pool“. He holds a diploma in Environmental Engineering and contributes to the area of life cycle based ecological assessment.
