In the paper "When Ostrom meets Blockchain: Exploring the Potential of Blockchain for Commons Governance" the Research Group on Agent-based Social and Interdisciplinary Applications (GRASIA) of the Universidad Complutense Madrid raises the question, which potential Blockchain based governance offers to self-governed communities. In its paper, the research group identifies requirements concerning  Blockchain based governance and links them to the principles for self-governance of communities introduced by Nobel laureate economist Elinor Ostrom (1990).

Wie kann die Blockchain Technologie für Selbstverwaltung genutzt werden? Eine Forschungsgruppe verbindet Ostroms Konzept der Selbstverwaltung mit der neuen Technologie.

Mitglieder der GRASIA (Research Group on Agent-based Social and Interdisciplinary Applications) der Universidad Complutense Madrid stellen sich in ihrem Paper „When Ostrom Meets Blockchain: Exploring the Potentials of Blockchain for Commons Governance“ die Frage, welche Potentiale Blockchain basierte Governance für die Selbstverwaltung von Gemeinschaften haben könnte. In ihrem Artikel identifiziert die Forschungsgruppe Anforderungen von Blockchain basierter Governance und bringt diese in Verbindung mit den von Wirtschaftswissenschaftlerin Elinor Ostrom vorgelegten Prinzipien der Selbstorganisation (1990).
